Description
Nicola Catena planted his first Malbec vineyard in Mendoza in 1902. His grandson, Nicolás Catena, is recognized as the man who revolutionized the wine industry in Argentina and introduced Malbec de Altura to the world. The historic vineyards of Catena Zapata are planted with vines from the Catena family's own selection of Malbec: the so-called “Catena Cuttings”. The grapes for the production of Catena Alta Malbec come from the following lots: Lot 18 from the Angélica Vineyard, Lot 4 from the La Pirámide Vineyard, Lot 1 from the Nicasia Vineyard, Lot 9 from the Adrianna Vineyard and Lot 6 from the Angélica Sur Vineyard.
