Description

The Catena family begins its second century as a wine producer in Mendoza, Argentina. Adrianna's vineyard, located at a height of almost 1,500 meters above sea level, is named after Nicolás' youngest daughter Catena Zapata. The soils of this plot are composed of calcium carbonate and marine fossils that cover the region millions of years ago. The calcareous layers provide good drainage and are rich in curl bacteria, microorganisms that help the vine root to support stress and absorb nutrients. From there, the term "Mundus Bacillus Terrae" or "elegant microbes of the earth. " Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec from Catena Zapata

Tasting Notes and Pairing

Color: deep and bright purple, with violet reflections that denote its concentration and youth. Aroma: intense and complex, with layers of mature black fruits (blackberries, blueberries, plums), floral notes of violets and lavender, and a distinctive mineral character (wet stones, graphite, chalk). Spices nuances (black pepper, nail), wild herbs (thyme, mint) and French oak touches such as cocoa, tobacco and vanilla, contributed by their parenting are perceived. Taste: In the mouth it is elegant, structured and vibrant, with a silky entrance and a fresh acidity that balances its concentration. The tannins are fine, polished and velvety, offering a rich and long, mineral and persistent texture with notes of black fruits, spices and a calcareous touch. It is a wine of great depth and precision, with a unique energy derived from its homeland. Vinification: 100% Malbec of the Mundus Bacillus Terrae plot (Live Bacterium of the Earth) in the Vineyard Adrianna, Gualtallary, Uco Valley, Mendoza, at 1,450 m altitude. Calcáreos soils with active microorganisms that contribute their distinctive character. Fermentation with native yeasts, cold maceration and 18-24 months raising in French oak barrels (70-100% new).
