Description
For centuries, farmers made offerings with hope for a miracle - as Amalaya translates in indigenous language - for a abundant harvest. The grapes come from the Calchaquí Valleys of Viñedos planted at 1,800 meters high above sea level in northwestern Argentina. The region stands out for being one of the highest in the world and is characterized also for its dry climate with rains not greater than 150 mm per year, with significant thermal amplitude; poor, rocky and sandy soils. Tasting Notes and Pairing
It is a malbec whose grapes were harvested at high height, in Finca Las Mercedes, and that contains prominent contributions from Tannat and Petit Verdot. It has a bright ruby color with violet nuances. It has aromas with a note of strawberries, raspberries and ripe fruits, with pepper touches and spices. In the mouth, the taste of red fruits, spices and a touch of vanilla is felt, since it was aged in French oak barrels. With round and soft tannins, its finish is delicate and persistent. It is purple color with reddish nuances. On the nose, first, it has aromas with a superficial note of violet roses and then a fruit and strawberry fruit profile, with white pepper touches. In the mouth, it is soft at the beginning and then, it becomes consistent and silky, with a persistent finish. Amalaya Malbec from Bodega Amalaya
