October 3, 1989 – The Wall Falls
Where were you when the Berlin Wall fell? I remember it vividly because my memory is rock-solid: I was with my father, who couldn’t stop staring at the TV, barely containing his joy. It was practically his only topic of conversation: “The world is different from today.” And boy, was he right.
A New World
A new world comes with new rules. And, of course, new wines. In Argentina, the years from the early ’90s to today brought a radical shift in the wine industry, moving from mass-produced cheap wines for local consumption to creating true works of art.
Today, Argentine wines win competitions, are recognized for their quality, and have unique characteristics that can’t be replicated elsewhere. Because every wine is unique, and each of us deserves to enjoy a distinct experience.
The Other Wall
However, there’s another wall that’s hard to tear down. Consumers often hesitate to take risks and prefer to stick with what they know and like, whether it’s laundry detergent or wine.
That’s where massive marketing campaigns come in, pouring millions into winning over consumers and getting them to try something new. It takes time and a lot of money—I know this firsthand because I come from the industry.
Change is real, and the new eventually replaces the familiar; it’s just a matter of overcoming the adoption curve. That’s why we’re here: to help you try new wines on a budget and discover new experiences. I’m confident I can convince you, even if it means holding tastings in the town square or writing like I am right now.
We Are the New
How do you win over consumers? By making it easy and affordable to try something new, and above all, by ensuring your offer feels somewhat familiar. If it’s too different, it’s harder. If it has some connection to what they already know, they’re more likely to give it a chance. And once they try something they like, you can introduce them to more and more.
The Discovery Combo in Action
That’s why we chose these wines for our first combo—a perfect mix of familiar and new. We included the Séptima Malbec Rosé because its color and style are close to the wines popular in Germany, where lighter-colored, softer-flavored wines often outshine darker, more intense reds.
The Malbec strikes a balance between the two, and being a rosé, it’s a great opportunity to spark curiosity.
No more waiting—try the Discovery Combo with these 3 wines shown below. They cost just EUR 38.99 for all three, with free shipping.
